4 Reasons I prefer Fall Campfires!

  • 2 min read

When September hits in the upper Midwest you can feel the weather change.  It is not subtle in the least.  If you are not ready for it, you will walk outside in flip flops at 6 am and wonder when it started getting down to 50 degrees at night?  Don't wish for more summer, embrace the new season!  This is truly Campfire Season and it lasts for almost as long as summer for us "Up North" folks.  Here is 4 reasons it is the best.

  1. No bugs.  Not much more to say is there? No bugs. You don't have to start the fire when it is 80 degrees out and put on jeans and sweatshirt just to keep bugs off you and then they force you inside anyways. Oh sure they go away after the feasting hour which usually last 45 min but by now you are comfy on the couch and you don't want to go back out.
  2. Temperature.  Refreshing is the word that best describes it. When it is 90 out it is hard to get cool or feel just right but when it is 55 and you can throw a sweatshirt and jeans on you can get just perfect.
  3. Sweatshirts and Jeans.  There is something that seems comforting about putting on the hoody that was in your closet for the last 4 months. Sitting down to a fire with jeans and sweatshirt because they are comfortable for the temperature is so much better than doing it to protect you from flying blood sucking insects.
  4. It gets dark earlier.  Starting a fire a 9:30 p.m. on a summer night is great but it so much better when you can start at 7:30.

Go have a fire this weekend with friends, family, neighbors or even strangers if you must.  Put on your jeans and find that sweatshirt in the closet that feels like an old friend.

Enjoy the new season! Campfire Season!
